Welcome to Senior Elementary Technology (4th and 5th grades)

My name is Sylvia Aslanian and I am part of the Technology Team.  I hold a Certificate in Multimedia/Visual Communications from the University of Phoenix and I am currently working on a BS in Information Technology/Multimedia and Visual Communication.

Fourth and Fifth grade receive an hour of technology each week. At this level technology education begins to see an emphasis on office suite applications to prepare the students for the rigor of middle school courses. Fluency in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications is a major emphasis at this level.  Each student is given an email account via Google Apps for Education. Goggle Apps for Education offers a secure environment for students to communicate, collaborate and produce. Digital Citizenship is emphasized throughout the year and formal lessons are given twice a year as well as researching skills, citing sources, plagiarism and copyright rules. The Millhopper Montessori School Responsible Use Policy must be signed by parents and students before a student is able to use the computers. Students will receive a log in name and password to log into the computers.

  •  Absences: If a student is out on the day something is due, the student is responsible for turning the assignment in on the day s/he returns to school. It is the student’s responsibility to find out what was missed. ALL ASSIGNMENTS AND LESSONS ARE POSTED IN JUPITERGRASDES.
  •  Late Assignments: (FOURTH GRADERS ONLY) Each grading period is ten weeks. Students in FOURTH GRADE are able to turn in a missed assignment or lesson before the end of the ten week period to receive credit for the assignment. If the assignment is not turned in by the end of the grading period, the student will receive a zero for the assignment.

(FIFTH GRADERS ONLY) Five points per school day will be deducted for late assignments. If a student is at school on the day something is due, it must be turned in. Discuss special circumstances with Ms. Sylvia as soon as possible. Assignments will NOT be accepted more than two weeks late and a zero will be given for the missed assignment.

*Please log in to your Jupitergrades Account to see what was missed or email me at saslanian@millhopper.com.  All weekly lessons and assignments are posted on Jupitergrades.
