Dear MMS Parent:

I am requesting your help in judging this year’s MMS Middle School Science Fair. One of the experiences which stands out in almost every student’s memory is that of being able to prepare to explain his/her project to a “judge” who works or has a background in the field of Science and Technology. Young people need to know that adults who work in the field of Science and Technology care about their interest in this vital part of their education.

Judges will be needed from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 18, 2013. Breakfast will be served at 9:00 A.M. The judging will begin at 9:30 A.M.

Your assistance with this all-important event would be greatly appreciated. Please review the Category Descriptions and indicate on the enclosed response form your preferred category for judging. I will make every effort to honor your preference, but I may need to assign you to a different category based on need. Please be sure to include your email address which will facilitate contacting you with last minute information, if the need arises. I’m also seeking awards and prizes for the participants. If you or your organization would like to give an award, please indicate that.

Science Fair judging consists of viewing the students’ posters and reading their papers and lab notebooks. Then you interview them about their projects and choose the winners.

Your prompt return of the response form will help to facilitate this aspect of the Science Fair in a timely manner. Please contact me if you need additional information-

Adult mentoring of young people is an important part of their education. The time spent is an investment in the future of Science and Technology and in the future of our country. Please assist in making this science fair experience available for all. In advance I thank you for your consideration of this request.

Teacher Appreciation Gifts

adventure Each year the teachers and faculty of Millhopper Montessori School work incredibly hard to help our children learn and grow in a safe and healthy environment. During Teacher Appreciation Week we like to let them know how much we value their efforts. This year’s theme is designed to honor each individual’s interests and choices. As part of our Teacher Appreciation Week activities, the PTO Appreciation Committee is pleased to once again offer the opportunity to purchase for our teachers and staff a gift certificate to a local merchant of their choice. By many families contributing to the same gift, they are able to select something special. Participation is optional and we hope the program will alleviate some of the stress of this busy time of year. If you would like to participate, please place your order on this webpage or you may review the letter that was mailed to your home and indicate the dollar amount you wish to contribute next to the individual’s name. Please total all your contributions and return the form with cash or check (made out to MMS PTO) in an envelope to Crystal Sorrow by Friday, May 13, 2016. You may leave the envelopes at the front desk or hand them to Crystal directly. Gift certificates will be presented to each recipient during Teacher Appreciation Week with a card from the families who have contributed. Dollar amounts are not included on the card. Since the PTO is now a non-profit 501(c)(3), your donation may be tax deductible. Please speak to your tax advisor regarding tax deductions. If you are interested in assisting with planning Teacher Appreciation Week or if have any questions, please feel free to contact either of us at or Have a wonderful end of the school year!
