First Day of School for M3S Students
The 2013-2014 school year will begin on Monday, August 19th. IMPORTANT – M3S classes begin at 8:30 am and end at 3:30 pm. The classroom will open at 8:20 am. M3S students that arrive before 8:20 am must go to Morning Care. M3S students will be marked tardy if not present in the classroom by 8:35 am. Students will need to check into the front office if they arrive to school after 9 am. Parents who need to pick up their M3S child before 3:30 pm will need to sign the child out at the front office and bring the sign-out slip to the M3S classroom. M3S students will be dismissed at 3:30 pm. M3S study hall is available until 4:30 pm Monday – Thursday.
M3S Parent Night – Wednesday August 28th @ 6pm.
In our continuing effort to keep parents informed of what their child is doing in the classroom a parent meeting is scheduled to discuss the students’ class work, homework, binder organization system, and classroom management. I highly encourage the parents of 6th grade students and new 7th or 8th grade students to attend this meeting.
Some topics to be covered are:
o how the binders are setup
o how the binder relates to class work and homework assignments
o how parents can use Jupitergrades.com to keep track of their child’s grades, attendance, assignments and behavior
o how parents can help their child with homework assignments and studying for quizzes and tests
We will also go over the use of homework and behavior notifications, the grading scale, and quarterly student report cards. Any general questions about the middle school program will also be addressed.
As middle school students continue on into adolescents, they seek independence. While the program is designed with this in mind, students still need support and guidance from home. This meeting will address ways that parents can help their child prepare for school with little interference with their child’s independence. Your interest and commitment to your child’s progress in school can help ensure his or her success.
JUST A REMINDER….Student’s summer reading book log and report is due the first day of school, August 19th. If you have questions about the summer reading assignment, please email Ms. Susan H – firstname.lastname@example.org
If you have any questions, you can contact Ms. Sherilyn by email – email@example.com.
