Dear Families,

The month of October is almost here.  During the month of September the students have gained a lot of new work skills.  They are able to choose work independently and their ability to concentrate is improving with each new work they learn.  The students have also shown a lot of growth in their grace and courtesy skills.

The month of October will be an exciting month!  We will begin with a study of South America, including the people and cultures we find there.  We will be doing art work themed on the Rain Forest of South America.  We will also be exploring our community at home and doing works that will reinforce appreciation of Community Helpers.

Six Week Interim Reports will go home on Monday and there will be a sign up sheet posted outside the classroom door to sign up for conferences that will begin October 2nd.  This will be a good time to discuss how your child has adjusted to the Montessori Methods and environment.

The children are getting excited about Parent Night which will be on October 15th.  There will be two different times to sign up for 4:30 until 5:30 or 5:30 until 6:30.  This will give the children one hour to share with you some of the lessons they have learned.  There will be a sign up sheet outside the classroom door so that you can choose a time that is best for your family.  Sorry, no siblings may attend; this is a time for parents to share with our students.  Thank you.

Upcoming events for Millhopper Montessori School include October 24th Fall Festival Information for this is on the school’s website.  Now is also a good time to sign up for a 30 minute shift to support your child’s classroom during the fall festival.  If this is inconvenient you may choose to pay for someone to work your 30 minute shift.  Thank you for your support!

Halloween Festivities will be October 31st.  The children will be able to dress up in their favorite costume.  They will make their own Trick or Treat bags in their classroom and have a chance to visit the Pre-K / Kindergarten classrooms to get their treats.  It will be a fun filled day!  Additional information will be in upcoming newsletters.

With Warm Regards,

Ms. Martha and Ms. Christina
