The children continued to adjust this week to being in the classroom and our classroom rules. This class has transitioned very smoothly with very few tears and very little anxiety. We are so proud of them, and are thankful to the parents for helping to make the transition a smooth one. We will be continuing to work on “Grace and Courtesy” skills throughout the entirety of the school year. We focus on manners and kindness between friends each day.
Next week we will be begin discussing nutrition including healthy foods, exercise, and the identification of fruits and vegetables. The grocery store is a great place to follow up on discussions we have in class with your child. I will let you know what healthy foods we have discussed, created, or tasted each week. Simply allowing your child to help pick out produce while explaining the color, texture, and how to feel whether an item is ripe are all great learning extensions. Allowing your child to help prepare the produce they pick out makes it even more of a concrete experience. These simple daily exercises increase your child’s vocabulary and understanding of the world through his/ her senses.
The students will be having Spanish class twice a week with Ms. Maria. The students have Spanish on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:10 – 11:30 am. Music is on Wednesday mornings at 9:00 am with Ms. Liz Nelson from 9:00 am -9:30 am. This music time is in addition to the singing during line time that occurs each day. We will also begin going to media with Ms. Jennifer in the school’s library every Friday for a half-hour visit beginning next week.
Have a great weekend,
Ms. Crystal, Ms. Ursy, and Ms. Kyra
