Ms. Christina & Ms. Lily’s Classroom News
We had a fantastic first week of school! The children are doing a great job choosing work and learning the ground rules of the classroom. They have been given many large and small group lessons. The children thoroughly enjoyed creating their “First Day of School” picture frames which you will find enclosed in your child’s take-home folder. We also began color recognition evaluations this week and will assess rote counting, numerals and letter sounds next week.

Important Parent Orientation Information
Our Parent Orientation Meeting will be held on Thursday, August 22nd at 6:30 p.m. in our classroom. I will be discussing the daily schedule, unit studies, expectations of the students and the Montessori curriculum. This is a time for everyone to become acquainted with each other and to ask any questions that you may have in general. Parents of new students to Millhopper Montessori and the preschool classroom are strongly encouraged to attend. The meeting is not a place to discuss individual student progress. This is an event for parents only. See you then!
Reminder about Show-and-Tell
Show-and-Tell will occur every Thursday afternoon. Typically, there is a particular theme for show-and-tell. Occasionally, we will have “free choice” days when your child can bring whatever he/she chooses. Appropriate things to share during show-and-tell include cultural items, objects found in nature, items found around the house, pictures and books. Toys are not appropriate for show-and-tell. We also ask that your child chooses only one item to share and that it is able to fit in the cubby along with his/her lunch box.
Thursday, August 22nd: “my favorite color” (bring an item that shows your child’s favorite color).
Thursday, August 29th: “my favorite animal” (pictures of animals can be used if you do not have a stuffed, plastic, wooden …… version of the animal).
