Hello First and Second Grade families,
Westside Pool Guidelines:
Children must follow the guidelines that are given by the lifeguards before getting into the pool or taking a swim test. For children who do not pass swim test first time around, they can try again. If not, there is a large supervised shallow end of the pool roped off at 3.5-4ft. and a fun splash pad play area. Once rules have been given children will take turns doing the swim test and as soon as everyone passes the test the slide and deep end low dive and high diving boards will be open. No diving allowed in the shallow areas. If a child is not following the Pool Rules the lifeguard will make the child come out of the pool. If it happens more than once the lifeguards may ask the child to leave the pool area. PLEASE FOLLOW POOL RULES! NO RUNNING! THEY HAVE A VERY STRICT POLICY.
Students need to bring his or her lunch tomorrow to our field trip to Westside Pool and Park. Snack and drinks will be provided.
Please check with your child to see if they have prepared the following items for tomorrow:
Ø A plastic bag for wet swimsuits
Ø Towel with name on tag
Ø Wear swimsuit to school with a cover up and pool shoes
Ø Put on sunscreen before leaving the house.
Ø Bring extra sunscreen.
Ø Change of clothing including sneakers and socks or if attending after care at school (lockers and showers are available free of charge at the pool changing rooms). The changing rooms will be chaperoned with teachers and parents as they get ready to leave pool and prior to coming into the pool/splash pad area.
Ø Small diving rings are okay to bring.
Ø Goggles if necessary.
Ø Extra money is not necessary. The school has paid for the lifeguards on duty. Your fees cover the facility, private party reservation, admission and clean-up crew.
Ø Come to school in swimsuit with appropriate cover and pool shoes.
Ø If your child has a summer birthday and you would like to provide a special after lunch snack, please e-mail me directly. The children expressed interest in singing “Happy Birthday” to our classmates with summer birthdays.
Ø Drivers/Chaperones—please do not make any stops to or from the pool without calling Ms. Anita.
Ø Put my phone number in your phone 352-219-0464.
Ø If you are dropping off and picking up, please talk to Ms. Anita about a rain plan and leave your number with Ms. Anita in case inclement weather.
We have enough drivers. If you were planning on driving and your name is not on this list, please reply to this e-mail.
Thank you to our chaperones and drivers. We have the following drivers signed up:
Ø Candace Wilke
Ø Spring Gill
Ø Beate Greer
Ø Niya Dix
Ø Norman Bledsoe
Ø Jennifer Curcio
Ø Holly Raba
After care is available when we return in the afternoon, please bring sneakers if your child is planning on attending. Students are responsible for collecting his or her items upon leaving the pool and the chaperones cars. We need to keep food on the tables in the covered area. Please be cautious with juice drinks and food items to not spill in the pool area. Snacks and drinks will only be allowed in the covered picnic area. This area is located next to the pool. The pool only has one way in and one way out. A change of clothes will be put in the lockers so the children will arrive back at school with dry clothes.
In the morning, we will leave at 9:30 a.m., we will take role and give parents the car assignments. The pool will available for us starting at 10:00 a.m.
Thank you! Ms. Susie and I can’t wait to have fun too!
