Dear Parents,

Millhopper Montessori School will once again be participating in the Oak Hall Community Sports League.  Organized team sports will be offered for children in grades K-5 (middle school needs will be addressed through other leagues).  Our participation in the league has more than doubled in the last five years and we hope to see the growth continue. We want to be clear as to what is offered through MMS and what is not, and how the registration process will work.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT MMS ONLY OFFERS SCHOOL TEAMS AND ON SITE PRACTICES FOR SOCCER, BASKETBALL AND FLAG FOOTBALL.  ANY OTHER OPTIONS ON THE OAK HALL WEBSITE ARE NOT IN CONJUNCTION WITH MMS AND WHILE YOU ARE FREE TO PARTICIPATE, YOU WOULD NEED TO TRANSPORT YOUR CHILD TO OAK HALL FOR THOSE ACTIVITIES.

Oak Hall has instituted an online registration policy.  Registration is available ONLY online (you can click here or visit www.oakhall.org, click Athletics, then Community Sports League), and will have very firm deadlines from what we are told.  The deadline for Flag Football is Friday, August 22nd!!   Once you have your information in on the Oak Hall website, you should be able to simply add additional siblings.  You will have to register for each sport individually.

We will also need each family to do a separate registration form with us at MMS to cover our liabilities and on-site costs.  This will be a paper registration and will available at the front desk or from Coach Cam.  This form will also be streamlined so that you can register and pay for multiple children/sports at one time.  If you wish to add other sports (before respective deadlines) you will simply need to notify the school in writing of your choices and you will be billed accordingly.  No more separate forms for each season and each child on the MMS side!

In regards to fees, you must pay both Oak Hall’s registration fee and a separate fee to MMS when you turn in your paper registration.  MMS has to cover the equipment, staff hours and insurance fees accrued by offering on-site practice and school teams, hence the separate fee.  Please note that the MMS fee has been lowered and our jerseys and trophies will be designed specifically for our students.  While we realize that you are required to do two separate registrations initially, it will reduce the number of registrations required overall, especially for families with multiple children participating in multiple sports.  If you have any questions regarding the sports leagues, please see Coach Cam.  He can be reached via email at cparker@millhopper.com.  We look forward to another wonderful year of athletic achievement.

Lastly, MMS has a Cleats for Feet program.  We have multiple sets of cleats your child can use for as long as they fit, then trade them back in once they outgrow them.  If you have old cleats in good condition, please donate them!  See Coach Cam for details.

Go Knights,

Coach Cam Parker

Teacher Appreciation Gifts
Teacher Appreciation Gifts

adventure Each year the teachers and faculty of Millhopper Montessori School work incredibly hard to help our children learn and grow in a safe and healthy environment. During Teacher Appreciation Week we like to let them know how much we value their efforts. This year’s theme is designed to honor each individual’s interests and choices. As part of our Teacher Appreciation Week activities, the PTO Appreciation Committee is pleased to once again offer the opportunity to purchase for our teachers and staff a gift certificate to a local merchant of their choice. By many families contributing to the same gift, they are able to select something special. Participation is optional and we hope the program will alleviate some of the stress of this busy time of year. If you would like to participate, please place your order on this webpage or you may review the letter that was mailed to your home and indicate the dollar amount you wish to contribute next to the individual’s name. Please total all your contributions and return the form with cash or check (made out to MMS PTO) in an envelope to Crystal Sorrow by Friday, May 13, 2016. You may leave the envelopes at the front desk or hand them to Crystal directly. Gift certificates will be presented to each recipient during Teacher Appreciation Week with a card from the families who have contributed. Dollar amounts are not included on the card. Since the PTO is now a non-profit 501(c)(3), your donation may be tax deductible. Please speak to your tax advisor regarding tax deductions. If you are interested in assisting with planning Teacher Appreciation Week or if have any questions, please feel free to contact either of us at missyno@bellsouth.net or rimskoon@yahoo.com. Have a wonderful end of the school year! Missy Norman & Sheila Koon PTO Appreciation Committee
